Frequently Asked Questions

I'm new to playing an instrument and I'm not sure what teacher to use. Help!
If you are looking for a particular genre to learn or are a complete beginner, we have a lot of great teachers. Browse through our teachers or we can recommend one for you! We can set you up with your first lesson to meet the teacher and see if it's a good fit for you. If you have questions, don't hesitate to call or email us! We are always here to help!

My child is interested in lessons, but I don't know if he/she will commit to really learning and practicing.
Do I have to commit to a certain number of lessons?
No! You can schedule the first lesson to see if it's a good fit for your child and if they like it and want to go forward, then we can schedule future weekly lessons after that point or you can schedule floating lessons at your convenience. If you are not on the regular schedule, we cannot guarantee that a particular day or time will always be available.

I can't commit to regular weekly lessons. Can I schedule as my calendar permits?

Absolutely! While we cannot hold a specific day and/or time open for you on a regular basis, you can schedule single lessons for times that you know you will be available using the online portal. If you don't have a student account with us yet, it's easy to sign up and get started when you are ready. You will still have a $25 Registration Fee to get started, but you can schedule around your busy life!

I don't always accompany my child to their lesson. What is an easy way for me to pay tuition so that it stays current?
You have several options to pay tuition. You can opt into automatic billing each month so that you don't have to worry about it at all - just ask the Lessons Coordinator to set that up for you in your account with the credit card of your choice. You can also send your child with a cash or check payment for the monthly tuition and have them drop it in the convenient drop box in the waiting area. Make sure the student's name is on the envelope so that it can be properly applied to your account. Finally, you can log into your student account and pay with a secure credit card online at the time of your choosing. We ask that tuition stay current and be paid ahead for the current month.

Our family is planning a vacation for spring break, holidays or summer and will miss several lessons. What should I do?
Let the teacher and Lesson Coordinator know the dates you will be missing as soon as possible so that the schedule can be adjusted. We ask that you provide at least 2 weeks notice if you or your child are taking 2 or more lessons off for vacation time consecutively.

How do I pay for my lessons remotely?
Using the Pike13 portal, you can securely log into your student account and choose "Purchase Lesson Passes" from the top menu. Find your teacher and choose the appropriate lesson length to add passes to your cart. Complete your purchase with any major credit card and you're all set! If you need additional help, contact us at lessons@bananas.com .

Me or my child woke up sick this morning. Can I still cancel or reschedule the lesson?
If you or your child wakes up ill in the morning and can't make it to your scheduled lesson, we would prefer that you or they stay home to heal and feel better. If you contact us as early as possible, we can reschedule the lesson for a makeup time. We understand that illness can't always be anticipated, but late cancellations still apply if notice is not provided in a timely manner.

I'm trying to sign in using the iPad in the Lesson Waiting Area and I'm not able to sign in. Help!
You have two ways you can sign in : 1- the email associated with your student account. A child will usually use their parent's email address unless they are an older minor and have their own email they put on the account. If you aren't sure, you can contact us and we'll be happy to let you know what email to use. 2 - You can access a special QR code you can use to sign in with in your account dashboard from your phone or tablet wirelessly. At the top of your dashboard, you'll see an option to "Scan to Sign In". That will display your QR code and you can show it to the camera on the ipad and it will sign you in automatically! If you need help accessing your account, let us know and we can help!

Lesson Tuition is non-refundable. If for some reason, you have account credit for one teacher but need to switch to a different teacher, credit can be transferred to cover partial or full payment for a different teacher if necessary. Please inquire if you have questions.
